Operator take: The pattern from the last several core updates is deepening, not changing. Thin, un-bylined, AI-slop content keeps losing; first-hand, author-led, genuinely useful content keeps winning. If you’ve been doing the right things, this update is a tailwind. If you’ve been cutting corners, it’s the bill arriving.
Google’s newest core update is mid-rollout, and the early read across the Indian sites we track is consistent with the direction of travel. There’s no exotic new signal to chase — just the same quality bar getting harder to fake.
Who’s gaining
The winners share a profile. Named authors with real credentials and profile pages. Original data and first-hand experience rather than rephrased consensus. Genuine depth on the topics they cover. And for local businesses, strong Google Business Profile signals doing a lot of the lifting.
B2B sites with engineer- or operator-led technical content are doing especially well. So are local-service sites that pair a well-kept GBP with real, specific local content.
Who’s losing
The casualties are predictable too. Programmatic content at scale with thin per-page value. “Best of” listicles written by people who clearly never used the products. AI-drafted blog farms with no human specificity. And generic SMB sites with no trust signals — no named author, no real about page, no evidence of a real business behind the words.
In India specifically, thin programmatic content is taking a steeper hit than the global average, likely because so much of it is even thinner than its Western equivalent.
The recovery playbook
If your site slipped, the moves are the same ones that would have prevented it. Audit your biggest traffic-loss pages in Search Console. Add real author signal — bylines, credentials, profile pages, Article and Person schema. Rewrite your top affected pages with first-hand specifics and original numbers instead of generic advice. And prune the genuinely dead, thin pages that are dragging your site-wide quality signal down.
Then wait. Core-update recoveries are slow — the lift from changes shows up between three and eight weeks out. Don’t panic-edit in week one, and don’t expect week-two miracles.
The through-line across every recent update is unmistakable: Google is paying up for content made by real people with real expertise, and marking down everything that tries to shortcut it. Build accordingly.
